A Food Rescue with the OpenRoad team

Members of the OpenRoad Foundation recently went on a number of food rescues organized through the Vancouver Food Runners (VFR). Multiple pallets of surplus food was rescued from community partners of the VFR, including Fresh Prep and Fresh Direct Produce.

The fresh produce was delivered to the Downtown Eastside Distribution Hub, which serves to receive food supplies, donations, and other goods, and re-distribute to the DTES community. The OpenRoad team was also given a tour of the facility and given the opportunity to meet with the incredible team behind the Hub in order to learn more about the impact of VFR’s food donations.
